Powerless Against God's Will
I believe there are many Christians who get frustrated with the Lord because they are trying to get their will done, but what they want is against God's will. I don't just mean that their will is sinful. I mean God has a plan, and He is going to carry out His plan, no matter what. There is no human being who is able to thwart the will of God when it comes to keeping Him from carrying out His plan for this world and for us, as individuals. We need to let this sink in.
King Balak did not understand this truth. He thought he could get a pagan seer named Balaam to put a curse on Israel, so he could defeat them and keep them from coming through His country. (Numbers 24:13) However, Balaam told the king that even if he gave him his palace filled with silver and gold, he would be powerless to do anything against the will of the Lord. He had already told him that he could only say what the Lord says, not just what the king wanted him to say.
Therefore, we, as Christians, need to step back and take a long look into ourselves and what we are trying to accomplish. Have we thought up our own vision for our life, or have we found God's will for our life? That is crucial. We can't dream big and then ask God to perform our vision. We have to submit to God's will for us and do it in His way. We need to be satisfied with that, knowing God's will for us is better than anything we could ever think up for ourselves.
That means that if we have been frustrated with God for not giving us what we want, we need to confess that sin. We need to repent of trying to do things our way, and by prayer and reading God's Word, come to see His plan for our life. It may take time. He may just show us the first step. However, we need to walk with Him in what He shows us, and we will see His blessings on us, as we fulfill His masterplan for us. We are powerless to do anything more than that.
