Steadfast and Immovable
One of the greatest needs in life is to be consistently doing the right things, not getting side-tracked. However, many of us vacillate between being strong and being weak. We go this way and then that way like the waves of the ocean. Just like we need physical strength to be able to navigate our lives, we need spiritual strength to remain consistently strong in the things of the Lord.
When Paul comes to the conclusion of his message about the resurrection of the dead, he gives us all a great encouragement based on the reality of Christ's resurrection and our future resurrection. (I Corinthians 15:58) "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." Nothing should discourage us since Christ is waiting to receive us into glory when that time comes.
We need to know what we believe and why we believe it. Then, we need to stick with our beliefs unless we find out that we were believing something that was not according to God's Word. We can always do this if we will base all of our beliefs on the Bible, and then never let anyone or anything change our minds. We are to never move to the right or to the left of what God says. We are to stand strong against Satan and his demons in the power of the Spirit. Yes, we can be steadfast and immovable, if we are trusting the Lord alone.
Also, we are to abound in the work of the Lord. We should wake up each morning and ask Jesus what He wants us to do that day. Then, we go and do it, being sensitive to anything else He shows us during the day. We must not do our own will, but His will faithfully all the time. None of this will be in vain, because God will be there to commend us when we stand before Him. It will make it all worth the effort when we hear Him say, "Well Done."
