Judging Our Fruit
Now that I have been doing all of the grocery shopping for a while, I am beginning to learn more about how to judge the fresh fruits and vegetables. I am pretty good at it, except that I get in a hurry sometimes, and I fail to see some blemishes or other problem signs. That is especially true when the produce is in a bag. I have found out that I don't really know the quality of the fruit until I get it home and peal it or start to prepare it. God is very good at judging our fruit, though.
God made that very clear to his prophet, Jeremiah. (Jeremiah 17:10) He said that He Himself searches the heart and tests the mind, even to give to every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. God is the ultimate fruit judge. One day, each one of us will stand before the Lord to give an account of our life, and He will show us whether the fruit of our life has been good or bad. We need to prepare for that day.
Each of us has control over the way we live. We establish our ways. We set what we do in the morning when we get up. We decide what we will do at work or at school and how we will do it. All of the time God is searching our heart and testing our mind, so He knows why we are doing what we are doing. He knows how we are thinking. We will be judged on what we do and on why we do it. We need to keep our heart right and our mind pure.
We need to realize that once we are saved, our purpose is to glorify God in what we say and do. We bring God glory when we allow the Spirit to fill us and empower us to bear fruit for Him. We are to bear the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23) and the fruit of seeing other people come to know the Lord. We will either have much fruit or a little fruit, and we will either have good fruit of bad fruit. God knows all, and that will be the basis for our judgment. I pray we all will have good fruit from a good heart and a good mind.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 18-20.
