Like Those Who Dream
I am sure that we have all had dreams that were so real we thought they were actually happening. Even when we wake up, we have to stop and realize it was all just a dream and not real. However, I wonder how many of us have had things happen to us that we so fantastic that it seemed like it must be a dream. Those things seem to have been impossible, and they would have been impossible, except for the power of the Lord to make them happen for us.
That is what happened to the children of Israel. God punished them by sending them into the Babylonian exile for 70 years. However, then God brought them back to Judah and Jerusalem. (Psalm 126:1-2)When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, they were like those who dream. Their mouths were filled with laughter and they tongues with singing. Then, the nations around them were saying, "The Lord has done great things for them." We can learn what we should do from this account.
When God blesses us with a great blessing, we need to express our joy and our thanks to Him. Yes, we should laugh and sing about the goodness of God. He is so good to us, and He deserves all of the thanks and praise. Sometimes, we fail to express ourselves to God, and that is very disrespectful to Him. Let's never let that happen. In fact, let's go all out in our praise and thanks.
Then, all of the unbelievers around us will see how we are acting with such joy, and they we will want to know the reasons for our laughing and singing. We can share God's great blessings that are almost beyond belief. They will see the power and great love of God to help us so miraculously, and they will be drawn to believe in Him, too.
