The Slaughtered Lamb
Jesus is called the Lamb of God. It is a great description for us to learn about Him. Lambs are helpless to defend themselves. They need a shepherd to lead them and care for their needs. Then, at the end of their lives they are slaughtered. It is not a pretty picture of what happens to such innocent animals. Jesus did not sin, but yet He gave Himself up for us without a fight, to be slaughtered on the cross for our sins.
Because of Jesus being the slaughtered Lamb, the Father declared that He deserves all of the accolades we can ever give Him. (Revelation 5:12) The lamb who was slaughtered is worthy to receive power, wealth, wisdom, honor, glory, and blessing. We need to proclaim this loudly to all people.
After Jesus was slaughtered for our sins, the Father raised Him from the dead on the third day. Then, Jesus was restored to His power which He had from the foundation of the word when He participated in the creation of all things. He was given all of the wealth of heaven, His eternal perfect home with golden streets. He again had the wisdom of God to do everything well.
Jesus was honored by the Father to receive a name that is above every name. At His name every knee will bow and every tongue confess He is Lord. Jesus was seated at the right hand of the Father, the most glorious seat in all of the creation of God. He was highly blessed by the Father for being totally obedient, even to be slaughtered on the cross for our sins. Yes, Jesus is worthy!
