Wisdom, Counsel, and Understanding

We are constantly testing words, learning and growing. Sometimes, people grow in the right way, because when they test the words, they discern the truth and follow it. Others, never learn, no matter how much they see or hear, because they are figuring things out for themselves, but not depending on the Lord. In other words, on our own we will never find the right way yo live, we must look to the Lord to show us. That is what Job saw in His suffering. As his friends tormented him with their false assumptions, He could see they did not understand everything. (Job 12:11-13) They had tested the words, like their palates tasted food. They had lived a long life, but they still did not have all wisdom and understanding. They did not know that wisdom and might belonged to the Lord. He was the only One to go to to receive the right counsel and understanding. Let's consider this for a moment.

God gave us the ability to learn, just like we have the ability to taste food. We have ears, eyes, and a mind. We can test words, read books, and try to understand the hard things of life. We should learn more the longer we live, because wisdom is with older people and a long life does bring understanding. However, our wisdom and understanding are faulty, if we just go by our intellect and our experiences. We need the Lord, because with Him are wisdom and might. All wisdom comes from the Lord. He created right and wrong, good and bad. He designed everything in the universe by His wisdom. Therefore, we have to go to Him for counsel on everything we test with our eyes. We have to go to Him for understanding the things that happen to us in our years of life. Then, we can become wiser each day, and we can have God's understanding of many things. That is what we all need.
