God's Blessing of Family
God told Adam it was not good for him to be alone. Then, He created Eve from his rib, having designed her to be the perfect one to complete him. God joined them together, as one flesh, and ever since God has been blessing marriages which trust in Him. Family is a blessing of God, and God loves to bless families. The psalmist knew this, and it sounds like he had experienced it himself. (Psalm 128:3,4) We would all do well to remember God's institution of the family and how the family is to function.
When a man and woman trust God, as husband and wife, God's desire is for them to be fruitful and multiply. That is not a hard and fast promise, but it is a general principle, since this is God's plan for developing the human race well. It is a miracle for ladies to be able to bear numerous children, bearing the pain and enduring the trials, while having the capacity to love each one uniquely. The husband is right there to lead, love, and help discipline the children, so they become fruitful in life. When it all revolves around fearing God, it works very well. The needs of the parents and the children are met, and even though there are trials, it is a joy to have each other. We walk through life together, growing and loving. We should stand in awe of God's blessings on us, as individuals and as a unit. God truly blesses those who fear Him, and the family is one of those blessings.
