God's Finished Product

There was a popular Christian song several years ago that said, "God's still working on me to make me what I ought to be." The truth is that God works on all of His children to mold us into the image of Jesus Christ. The song also said, "It took Him just a week to make the moon and the stars ..., but He's still working on me." Yes, it is a definite process, and I want to assure us that it goes much better, if we cooperate with the Lord in the process. It sounds to me like David knew this truth, and he was trying to seek the Lord to make it happen well. He was also looking forward to seeing God's finished product for his life. (Psalm 25:4,21) I wonder how we are doing in this process and what God's finished product of us will be like? Let's consider what David said and apply it to our lives.

We need to cooperate with the Lord as He works in us by seeking to know how God works. He can't really mold us to be like Jesus completely unless we see how He works, and we follow His pattern. I am afraid that some of us want God to work in our way, but He never will lower Himself to that level. Also, we need to ask God to show us His ways. His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8) We can miss what God is doing, if we are looking for Him to use earthly methods to mold us. He uses the best ways, and they are much different from the ways of this world. We need to look at the stories in the Bible and the parables in the Gospels, and ask the Lord to show us His ways, so we can recognize them when He is leading us. Finally, we need to submit to God and ask Him to use His skill to put us together, as He designed us, not according to our design or the design of this world. All of this should be done with a great expectation of what His finished product will be. When our life on earth comes to an end, where will we be when it comes to being like Jesus? That question should be in the front of our minds and on our hearts every day God gives us.
