Arrogant Enough to Go it Alone

Life is a challenge for all of us. The key to our difficulties in life is that we are all sinners. We have other weaknesses, as well, so life can knock us down quickly, if we don't find the solution to our predicament. It is not a complicated solution, but many people fail to find it. It seems that David found the solution, and it caused him to be very blessed by God, even in spite of his sins and weaknesses. David found that we all need to love God, first and foremost, and then, He will take care of all of us who stay close to Him. However, if we are arrogant enough to think we can go it alone, He will pay us back in full for our prideful independence. (Psalm 31:23) Let's think about why life works this way.

God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. He is Lord of all. He deserves and demands that we worship no one, but Him. Also, God is love, and what He is looking for in us is that we love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. If we give Him His rightful place in our lives, and we love Him, being totally faithful to love Him first, He will take care of us. He does it out of love for us and as a reward for our true love for Him. When we are arrogant, and we decide to go it alone in life, we are insulting God terribly. In fact, we are saying we are more powerful and capable than He is. We are worshiping ourselves, instead of Him alone. We are arrogantly rejecting His love and His provision, thinking we can do it better than He can. God can't bless us, if we reject Him like that, so He pays us back in full as a way to show us we can't live life correctly by ourselves. Going it alone causes us to fall into many sinful patterns and practices, which destroy our lives, and we get hurt by not having His help for our weaknesses. Let's submit to the Lord in love and faith, trusting that He will care for us, and that will make life so much better for us.
