Why Does God Care for Us?

There are a people who think God doesn't care about them or other people, at all. Their concept is that if there is a God, He is detached from us. They think He is in Heaven doing just fine, but we are here on earth struggling from day to day and trying to figure out how to be happy. That is a totally false view of God. In fact, the opposite is true. However, sometimes it is hard to see this when we are having trouble like Job had in his life. Job did not blame God for what happened to him, but he did have a lot of questions for God. One of those questions was what do people really mean to the Lord anyway? Why is the Lord concerned and why He is interested in what happens to us? (Job 7:17,18) Maybe you are asking those types of questions now, or you have asked them in the past. I want to let us all in on a few important things.

God cares for us, because He is our Creator. If He did not care about relating to people, He would never have created mortals in the first place. He made us in His image, so we can have a close personal relationship with Him. God also cares because He is love. He doesn't just love us, His very nature is love. That means everything God does is done out of love. Even when He has to punish us because of His holiness, He does it in love. When He allows trials into our lives, even terrible ones like He allowed to come to Job, He does it out of love. He is a Loving Father teaching His children how to live according to His will and in His power by looking to Him in our troubles. Yes, He does bother with us, but we are no bother. We are a joy to His heart, especially when we draw close to Him. He does check on us every day. In fact, He is right near us at any moment, so we can call on Him with anything going on in our lives. I pray that we will not let our pain cause us to forget these truths, like Job forgot. Let's never doubt God is our loving Father who cares for us very deeply.
