Job's Excellent Attitude

Job was a very righteous man, who believed in God and did all he could to keep him and his family right with God by his sacrifices. One day when Satan approached God in Heaven, God asked Satan about what he thought of Job. Satan was very sarcastic, and he told God that the only reason Job served God so well was because God protected him and his family, blessing him abundantly. Therefore, God set out to prove to Satan that Job did not serve Him for that reason. He allowed Satan to take all of Job's possessions and kill his family. That was a huge tragedy. It struck Job to the heart, but through it all Job had an excellent attitude. In fact, he never sinned through the whole ordeal which lasted for some time. (Job 1:21,22) Let's see what we can learn from Job's attitude which will help us be pleasing to God, too.

When Job lost everything, he had the right perspective. He knew that he came into the world naked, with no possessions, and that when he died, he would not take anything with him either. He was not bitter about that, at all. In fact, He recognized that God was in control. He is that One who gives and the One who takes. Even when God took everything he had, Job proclaimed that God's name should be blessed all the time, whether He is giving or taking. Job did not sin by his attitude, words, or actions. In fact, he never did what most people would have done. He never blamed God for his losses or for hurting him. What a magnificent example for all of us, because all of these things are true for all of us. Possessions are not really that important, because we will not take them to eternity. All we have comes from God, not our own ability. God's worthy of praise all of the time, and we should never blame God because His plan is beyond what we can see or fully comprehend. May we adopt this excellent attitude. I believe it will bring us to be blessed by God like it did for Job.
