God will not Come in Rage

God never loses control because of His anger. This is a huge problem for many of us, though. When we get angry, we are quick to lash out and not think about what we are doing. Often, we respond in a way that is too severe. However, that never happens with the Lord. He does not vent the full fury of His anger. In Hosea's day He promised Ephraim that He would not destroy them completely. He assured them He was God and not a man, so He had the controlled response which was fitting for the Holy One who never sinned. (Hosea 11:9) We all need to stop and think about this character quality of God.

God is holy. That means He never does the wrong thing, but He always does the right thing in every situation. Anything less than that would be a sin, and God does not sin. Also, God is merciful and loving. Therefore, He does not come at us in rage. When He is angry, He still comes with a measure of love and grace. He doesn't punish us as much as we deserve, and He gives us more love than we deserve. All believers should hear this lesson and apply it, because we are to be growing to be like Jesus. We must ask the Holy Spirit to guide us in our response to every situation, so that we never get out of control, and we never act in rage. This is especially true when we discipline our children. They need to see that we are doing it in love and mercy, not in anger. Let's pray for victory in this area of our life, so we can show forth the nature of God to those around us.
