Sincere Gratitude
David was amazed at the grace of God that had taken him from being a shepherd to being the king of Israel. (II Samuel 7:18) He expressed his gratitude to the Lord in a sincere way. This is something all of us should do. We should always be sincerely grateful to God for all of His blessings.
We are susceptible to pride. If we give in to pride, we can not be sincerely grateful to God, because we take credit for things which He has done for us. Therefore, we must put away pride in every form.
We are also given to neglect. We forget things, and even when we remember blessings, we neglect to express our gratitude as we should. Thanklessness is a terrible sin. We must never allow it to take root, but we must be diligent to give thanks to God for the specific things He has done for us each day.
Like King David, we must never forget that it was God who brought us to where we are, if we are experiencing blessings, because without Him we can do nothing. (John 15:5)
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Samuel 10-13.
