The Lord Will Provide

Genesis 22 is one of the most famous historical accounts of an event in history. When Abraham obeyed God and took Isaac, the son of promise, up on the mountain to sacrifice him, he learned a great lesson. The Lord will provide. (Genesis 22:14) We all need to live knowing this great truth and applying it every day.

God does not always provide for everyone all of the time. He provided the ram for Abraham to sacrifice instead of his son, because Abraham was faithful to obey the Lord without complaining or hesitation. God provides for us faithfully, as we take Him at His word to us. Once He shows us what to do, we know He will provide when we follow His will.

In the mount of the Lord it shall be provided. This part of the verse has two meanings. God provided for Abraham on Mount Moriah. However, this place is important. It is the mount on which Jesus died for us, and He was provided for us to pay for our sins and to die in our place, like the ram died in Isaac's place. Isn't that amazing? Two thousand years after God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son, God sacrificed His only-begotten Son for us. The ram was provided for Isaac to live. Jesus was provided for us to live. Yes, the Lord will provide, and the Lord has provided the best gift ever through Hus Son.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 24-27.
