What is Man that You are Mindful of Him?
Compared to the heavens with the moon and stars, we human beings are not very impressive looking. However, God cares about us much more than He does about the heavens. As David considered the work of God's hands in the heavens, he marveled that God would think about us and visit us.(Psalm 8:3,4) It does us well to consider this fact, too.
God does not love us because we are beautiful or strong. He does not love the wealthy more than the poor. God loves us, because mankind is made in the image of God. When God sees us, He sees a part of Himself. We are the height of His creation of the universe, even if the rest is more spectacular in appearance than we are. God made us like Himself, so He could have a relationship with us. God did not need a relationship, but He desired to have relationships with people, because He is love. Love wants to give, and the more love there is, the more it gives.
Next time you get depressed go outside and look at the stars. Then, remember that you are important to God than the stars. Look at the sparrow or the lily, and know that God cares more for you than for them. God loves you and is longing to know you, and to walk with you each day in an eternal relationship. God visited the earth and us humans, when Jesus Christ came into this world to die for us, so we could have our sins forgiven and then, have a relationship with God. That is simply amazing, but very true.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 9-12.
