Extra Added Blessings

When God is pleased with the desires of our heart, He adds even more blessings into our lives. Solomon is a great example of this principle. When God told him to ask for a blessing, Solomon asked for wisdom and knowledge. His desire pleased God so much that He blessed Him with incredible wealth and honor, too.(II Chronicles 1:10,12) I pray that we all realize this about the character of God.

God is a Father who loves to see His children have hearts that are set on the right things. When He sees that, He knows He can entrust even more blessings to us, because we will use them well. It is all about our hearts and the desire of our hearts. A pure heart, a humble heart, and an unselfish heart are all pleasing to God because they reflect His heart. When Solomon asked for wisdom and knowledge, his heart was pure and humble. He knew he could not judge the people by his own wisdom, so he must have help from the Lord. It was also an unselfish heart desire. He was thinking about the good of the people.

Later Solomon failed to desire God's will, and God ceased to bless Him. He could not trust Him with blessings any longer. That is why some folks do not receive God's blessings.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 2-4.
