Why Not Just Trust God?

I am afraid pride gets the best of us many times, even though we may not know it is pride. What other explanation is there for wanting things our way and being dissatisfied with our lives? When that happens, we are saying that we could do better than God and we know better than God. It is a failure to trust Him for who He is. Maybe part of it is that we do not really think about who He is either. Moses gave us a good picture of God.(Deuteronomy 32:4) We need to commit this verse to memory.

He is the Rock. God is the strong foundation of all that exists and for us specifically. His work is perfect. God never makes a mistake in what He does. We may not know why He does what He does, but we can be assured He has a perfect reason for doing the perfect thing for us. For all His ways are justice. God never fails to act in a just, righteous way. He knows what is right because He established justice, and His ways uphold that justice. He is a God of truth and without injustice. God established truth, too. In fact, truth is His character. He could not act in a way that is false or unjust. Righteous and upright is He. We should not doubt that the All-powerful, All-wise, All-loving Perfect God would ever be anything less than righteous and upright.

See what I mean? When we get depressed because we feel like we have been mistreated by God or we feel like God is letting us down, we are not stopping to consider who He is. We need to remember who He is every day, and we need to just trust Him every day. Then, we would free ourselves of the stress of trying to do things our way and in our own intellect. Also, we would be able to cast ourselves upon the Rock, so we would never be shaken.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 1-4.
