The Purpose of Prayer

Jeremiah 33:3 is a great verse because it shows us clearly the purpose of prayer. Please, don't miss this truth. Prayer is not about getting our will done. It is about hearing from God, so that we see His will and join Him in doing His will.

If we pray to get our will done, God is our servant, and we are god. That is an abomination. God does what He wants to do, and I am glad. He knows best, and He always acts in love. Therefore, we can call to Him in every need and time of distress, so He can show us things, we "do not know." That clearly shows that prayer is not about asking for our will to be done, because that is what we know already.

God is sovereign. We pray for Him to work out His will in our lives, our churches, and in our countries in His way. We pray so He can show us great and mighty things we do not know. We can be surprised by His wisdom and might to do the right thing. He is in charge.

Let's pray like that and see what God shows us and do it faithfully. Then, we will watch to see what He does, not what we can do.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 36-38.
