Stuck in the Mire

Jeremiah was a faithful prophet for the Lord, but God allowed him to be put in the dungeon which was filled with mire, so that Jeremiah sank in the mire without food or water. What a horrible experience! Do you ever feel like you are stuck in the mire of life? Do you wonder what will happen, because you see no way out? Please, do not be discouraged. God has not abandoned you. He is faithful to send someone to rescue you like He did in Jeremiah's case, or He will take you home to be with Him. Either way you win, if you know Him as your Lord.

Why does God let his faithful children experience the mire of life? I am sure there are a lot of reasons, but let's think of a few. It helps us trust Him and pray even more than before. It helps us see what others are feeling spiritually, because they are unsure of their future and their salvation. Also, it shows us the goodness of God to deliver us, one way or the other. The mire makes us stronger in the long run, so it is not bad.

Can you imagine how Jeremiah felt when he was lifted out of the mire? What a feeling of release and freedom! I have had that feeling, and I hope you have, too. I am praying for all of you  who are in the mire that today will be the day you are lifted out into the sunshine of life and set on the rock of the Lord.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 39-41.
