We Belong to the Lord

The main thing to remember about our relationship with God is that we belong to Him, not that we have received Him. Let me explain. Too many people think that just because they prayed a prayer to ask Jesus to come into their hearts that they have a relationship with God, and everything is settled. However, the salvation comes when He accepts us to be His, not when we accept Him.(Leviticus 20:26)

You may say that I am splitting hairs, but I believe it is very important. We are saved by grace, not by our works. Prayer does not save us. If we have true faith, and we trust Christ as our Lord and Savior, God adopts us into His family. We are His. That is what counts. If we do not have a relationship with Him, we are not saved. He speaks to His children. We live like we belong to Him, because we have been separated from the world. It changes our entire orientation to life. We no longer belong to ourselves. We belong to Him. The main thing to a child of God is what God wants us to do, not what we want to do.

This truth shows us why we are not to act like everyone else. They are acting like those who belong to this world. We belong to Him, so we live differently. It is a result of our commitment to Him and our relationship with Him. It is not just something we try to do. It is what we want to do, because we love Him for loving us first and dying for us. I pray that we will live like we belong to Him today and every day, so others will be able to see the difference.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 23-25
