God's Generosity

God gives us everything we have. He created everything, so He owns it all. Then, He blesses us with the ability to work and to make money, so that we can live. All He requires from us is 10% of what He has given us.(Leviticus 27:30) The ten percent is called the tithe, and it belongs to the Lord. It is holy, set apart for His use. That is why Malachi says that those who fail to give their 10% are robbing God.

Giving our tithes to God is an act of worship and thanksgiving for all of His generosity to us. If we worship Him with our tithes, He promises to bless us abundantly. What a deal. He gives us 100%. He requires only 10%. Then, when we give Him what is His, He blesses us for our worship. We truly have a generous God.

I pray that each of us are experiencing the blessings of God's generosity, because we are faithful in giving our 10% back to Him. I have known people who gave as much as 50% of their income, because there is no limit in what we can give. In fact, the Bible says the more we give, the more He pours out on us.(Luke 6:38) In this way we prove to be conduits of His resources to provide for His Kingdom. What a blessing to know that God entrusts us with His money, so we can be a blessing to others and to His Church.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 2-4.
