Conformed Or Transformed

People fall into two basic groups, those who conform and those who are transformed. I know that is simplistic, but it is true.

The pressure from the world is to conform. There is a lot of peer pressure to be like everyone else in how we dress, how we act, and how we talk. Businesses advertise to get us to want all of the same products and services, so we will be up to date. Many people have a fear of being different. They go to great lengths to conform and blend in with the crowd.

The Bible urges us to do the opposite.(Romans 12:2) God commands us not to be conformed to this world. His will is for us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. When we are transformed, we will live by God's perfect will, instead of the will of this world and the people around us. It is life at its best.

Jesus told us that there are two roads. The broad road is crowded with people headed to destruction. They are conforming to each other and the world, so they are missing God's way. God's way is the narrow road that leads to life. It is not crowded at all. Even though a lot of people say they want real life, they do not want to be different. They do not want to stay on the "straight and narrow" way. They think that life on the broad road is exciting. However, they find no peace or joy or real love. Their lives are empty of the things that matter. The folks on the narrow road have all of those things, because they all are God's will for us. When we go His way, He supplies them in abundance.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Romans 13-16.
