Praying For the Japanese People

Our church has adopted the Japanese people, because they are an "unreached people group." We are limited in what we can do to reach them, except in one very important area. We can pray for them. Nothing can stop the prayers of faithful saints who are praying according to God's will. Therefore, we must begin by praying for them, and then, we must be faithful to do other things as God leads us.

How do you pray for those who don't know Christ whether they are in Japan or any other place in the world? We can pray for the veil that blinds their eyes to the Gospel to be lifted by the Lord just enough to see the light of the Lord. This could be praying for them to have dreams and visions of God's truth. However, it could be scientific facts that lead them to know that there is One God who created the universe, and He is Lord of all. We can pray for the Spirit to draw them to the Lord and convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment in a very strong way. We should pray for the Holy Spirit of Truth to lead them clearly into all truth. Then, we can pray specifically for Japanese people we know, or whom we know of through our missionaries.

Also, we should pray daily for our missionaries in Japan. I pray several things for them: that God would bless them physically and spiritually, that they would be filled with God's Spirit, that they would lead many people to the Lord and start church planting movements in Japan, that God would protect them and their families, that they would have the favor of the Lord, the people around them, and the Japanese government, that God would draw the people around them to see Jesus clearly, so they can trust Him as Lord and Savior. We can pray for our missionaries and their families by name as well.(I am particularly fond of Jeff and Lori Loomis, Kade, and Avenly.)

I pray that you will join with me in praying for the people of Japan to come to Christ, if not daily, at least, once a week. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see millions of them join us as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 9-11.
