Rebellion Or Ignorance

God is a very gracious Father, who sends His blessings on the just and the unjust. In other words, God gives all of us more than we deserve, both those who have trusted Christ as Lord and Savior and those who have not. As I wrote last night, God has a special place in His heart for needy people. He watches out for them, and He takes up their cause, whether they are believers or not. However, even the verse I quoted last night says, "but the rebellious dwell in a dry land."(Psalm 68:5,6)

There are many people who are ignorant of the Lord and His Word. The Holy Spirit is convicting them of sin, righteousness, and judgment, because He does that for everyone in the world.(John 16:8-11) God sends truth to them through other people at times, as well. Therefore, when the Lord reveals His truth and His will to them, they have a choice. They can obey or rebel, but they are no longer ignorant. If they rebel, God doesn't bless rebellion. It is part of His way of convicting people of sin. They can begin to see a pattern in their lives. When they do right, there are some positive consequences, but when they do wrong, there are negative consequences. This way, they know there is a God who has determined right and wrong.

Each of us should search our own hearts to see if we are rebelling against what God has shown us of Himself. If there is evidence of rebellion, we need to consider that it is unwise and unprofitable to fight against Almighty God. All we need to do is to begin to obey what we know, and God can begin to shower His blessings on us and bring us out of the dry land.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 75-78.
