Unity

Steve Smith preached a good message on the importance of Christian unity this morning. It is rare that I go to my own church just to worship and not to preach myself. It was a joy to do so today. I concur with Steve's message 100%. It is amazing to think what could happen if we were unified in our opposition to Satan, and we were in unity with other believers. Often, the opposite is true. We are striving against other believers, and we are not fighting Satan at all. That is the way he likes it.

One additional thought about unity. We really do not have to strive for unity. We have to desire to be unified with Jesus and full of the Holy Spirit. Once that is the case, we have unity with other believers who are right with God, too. The real problem that keeps us from being unified as believers, is that we do not have the unity with the Lord we should have. Take some time to read Jesus' prayer in John 17. He made the point very clearly. He wants us to be one with Him and the Father, just like He and the Father are one. If we have that kind of unity, we will be close to others who are one with the Lord, and we will be ready to stand with them against Satan.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 63-65.
