Jesus Is Worthy

I just got back to out motel room from the closing session of the SBC Pastors' Conference. I believe I heard the most powerful and compelling message on the Great Commission that I have ever heard, and I have heard a lot of them. It was delivered by David Platt, pastor of Brook Hills Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. The thing that made it so remarkable was that all he did was tell us the truths from Romans we already knew. However, when taken all together, it is overwhelmingly evident that we as believers, as churches, and as a convention must make whatever sacrifices are necessary to take the Gospel of Jesus to the 6,418 unreached people groups of the world in our lifetime.

Think about it for a minute. What sacrifices have you made personally, so that people who have never heard of Jesus can hear the Gospel and be saved? If you can't think of any or not very many sacrifices, why not? Jesus died for these people, and we are His Body to deliver the message. The most powerful quote he gave was from Carl F H Henry, who said, "The Gospel is only good news, if it gets there on time." Consider the reality of that truth, and then, prayerfully consider what Christ would have you do to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth where people have never heard, and they have no hope.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 66-68.
