Simple Pleasures from God.

 I am afraid that some of us are very unsatisfied with our lives unless we can do something new or exciting on a regular basis. We feel like we need to go to some party or festival. We have to plan trips or cruises, so we can enjoy ourselves. Also, many of us think that we have to spend a lot of money doing things we haven't done before, or we are missing out on the good things of life. I am not saying that doing these things is bad, but I am saying that we should be more satisfied with much simpler things that God has given us to enjoy.

As Solomon was searching for the real meaning of life, he tried everything that he could think might bring lasting results. He was frustrated because none of the worldly things will last or really make things totally satisfying. However, he did realize something very important. (Ecclesiastes 2:24,25) "So I decided there is noting better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then, I realized these pleasures are from the hand of God. For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him?" I believe the wisest man really came up with something here.

God has given us simple pleasures to satisfy us, and we need to realize this, so we can be content with what God designed for us. After all, God created us, and He knows just how He designed us. We need to cooperate with His design and His provision, instead of trying to do things our way. If we don't, we will finally come to the same conclusion Solomon reached. We will see that we went to a lot of trouble for no really good outcome. Just think about what he found.

There is nothing better than to enjoy a good meal, food and drink. He made food to bring us pleasure, and we need to appreciate that fact. We need to slow down and enjoy our three meals every day. That would enable us to have a large amount of pleasure every day and every week, no matter what else we do. Then, we also need to find satisfaction in our work. God created work for us, and we need to see that and enjoy doing well through our work. Then, every week will be filled with pleasure. We need ask God to show us how to enjoy His simple pleasures, and we will have a much better life.
