Praying Out of Love for God

There are many reasons why we should love God. Of course, the greatest reason is because He loved us first. He loved us so much that He sent His Only-Begotten Son to die for our sins, so we could have eternal life and not perish. He did all of that so He could have a close, personal, love relationship with each of us. Out of His love, he always desires to speak with us. He hears us and responds to us in a way that makes us want to love Him more and more.

The psalmist had experienced this love relationship in his times of prayer, and He loved the Lord because of it. (Psalm 116:1,2)  "I love the Lord because He hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath." I pray we will all let these words sink into our souls and cause us to be able to say the same thing. I know we will receive great blessings if we will.

Just think, the God of the universe knows your voice. Like the Good Shepherd that He is, He knows each of His sheep. He knows our voice and everything about us. When we stop  to pray in the middle of the day or any time, He automatically knows who we are, and He listens. In fact, He bends down to  our level so He can hear our prayer for mercy or whatever we are saying to Him. Then, He responds out of love in a way that we can see His will being done.

So, why would we not pray without ceasing? Surely, if we are not praying as we should, it is at least partially because we do not know what this verse is saying to us. However, once we come to this realization, we will decide to pray as long as we have breath, too. Wouldn't that be fantastic, if we are able to pray with the last breath we have on this earth and have the full assurance that He hears us and lovingly receives us to Himself? That is my desire, too.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 118 and 119:1-88.
