The Godly are Fast Disappearing

I love it when I read news stories about revival breaking out in a church or in an area. It is glorious to hear of many people coming to Christ and being baptized to make a public confession of their faith in Jesus. I think this is so special to me because it seems that the world is getting darker and darker. It seems that there are less really solid believers than ever before. Even though that is the case, I don't want us to be down and depressed, but to stay strong for the Lord.

David had much the same situation in his day. He recognized what was going on, and he cried out to the Lord. (Psalm 12:1) "Help, O Lord, for the godly are fast disappearing. The faithful have vanished from the earth." David did the right thing. He cried to the Lord for help. That is what all of us, as Christians, should do today. We should ask God to help us persevere and to be bold in living a godly life. Let's think about how we can do just that.

To live a godly life we have to have our mind transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit so that we can see things the way God sees things. We need to abide in His Word, so that it sinks into our hearts, and we conform to His will and His ways. We have to allow our hearts to be filled with the Spirit so He can fill us with God's love, and we can love others like Jesus loves them.  When we do these things, we will be godly people, and that is God's desire for all of us. That is the greatest way to live.

So when I say all of that, can you see what I mean when I say that the godly are fast disappearing? We have people who believe in God. We have people who have put their trust in Jesus and go to church. However, it seems to me that we have fewer really godly people in this world. We need more believers to decide to become godly people, so others can see Jesus in them and be attracted to Jesus. I pray that we will all have that as our goal in life every day, and God will be able to conform us to the image of His Son.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 15-19.
