Lead Me in the Right Path, O Lord

I can remember when we had to use maps to get to our destination. There were no navigation apps on a cell phone. I believe the apps are much better than maps most of the time because they check the traffic and other hindrances between us and our destination. Then, they send us on the side streets or the back roads, if that will help us have a better trip. Sometimes, there are a lot of turns, so we have to listen closely, but we get there safely. It is the same way with the Lord on the road of life.

King David was a military commander, and he knew how important it was for him to take his troops on the right path. He had scouts to help him, but mainly he cried out to God for guidance. (Psalms 5:8) "Lead me in the right path, O Lord, or my enemies will conquer me. Make Your way plain for me to follow." Now, that is a very wise prayer for all of us to pray all of the time, so we can live a life of victory which is pleasing to God.

God is the Only One who knows just what we need to do to have the best life possible. He sees all of the circumstances of our lives and of the lives of those around us. He is the Only One who can navigate us in the right way at the right time, so we can be in the right place to do His will. If we go the way we want to go, our enemies can conquer us. Laziness, selfishness, and pride are enemies to us finding God's way, and Satan can use those things to lead us in the wrong direction and defeat us. We won't do what we are supposed to do, which leads to trouble and stress.

God wants us all to have peace. He wants us to prosper in the right things in life. Therefore, we need to cry out to God daily to make His way plain to us. We need to hone in on God's voice, so we hear Him clearly speaking to us by the Holy Spirit. If He says to go straight, we don't hesitate. If He says to turn, we go in that direction. When He says to stop and wait, that is just what we do. This takes humility and patience, but it is well worth it when we experience the abundant life Christ has for us. (John 10:10) I pray we will all sincerely pray this prayer every day and follow God faithfully.
