Promise Keeper
God is a promise keeper. He has made hundreds of promises in His Word and even more as He has given people promises as individuals. It is a part of God's nature to show us His will and His goodness. When God gives us a promise, we know He is giving it to help us accomplish His will, and we know we will see His goodness in how He answers His promises. That is why we need to focus in one the promises of God all the time.
Solomon was focused on the promises of God as the construction of the Temple was completed. He gave God all of the glory for everything going well. (I Kings 8:24) He said that God had kept His promise to His servant David, Solomon's father. He had made the promise with His own mouth, and He had fulfilled it with His own hands. He had promised that Solomon would become king, and that he would build the Temple. Both were accomplished just as He said.
When God speaks, He always speaks the truth. When God speaks, things are accomplished, just like when He created the universe by speaking it into existence. Therefore, when God makes a promise it is guaranteed to come true in one way or another. That is why we need to listen to the Lord as we read His Word and as we pray. Then, when we hear Him give us a promise, we need to adjust our lives to show that we know it will happen.
The other reason we know it will happen is that He will accomplish it with His hands. It will be done in His power, not in our power. Some of us don't trust God's promises because they seem impossible to us. We are looking at them through our eyes, thinking of what we are able to do. We must stop doing that, receive every promise, and have faith that God is always able to do what He says He will do. Let's all live by trusting the promises of God to us and see what He does for us to complete His will for us and the world.
