My Protection and My Safe Place

This fallen world in which we live is a perilous place. We never know what is going to happen around us or happen to us. It is very scary for many people. It causes people to have many fears that control their lives. If we do not find the protection we need so badly, we will live very unstable, unhappy lives. However, the good news is that there is a Great Protector and a wonderful safe place for us, if we will just trust in the Lord.

Of all of the people in the Bible I believe David had the most troubles in his life, He fought all kinds of wars. He was attacked by all kinds of people who were jealous of him being the king. He could have been very fearful, but he wasn't. (II Samuel 22:3) David loudly proclaimed that God was his Rock, and he found protection in Him. He was his Shield, the power that saved him, and his place of safety. God was his Refuge, his Savior, the one who saved him from violence. I have very much come to agree with David on all of these points and to experience what he experienced so long ago.

The reason I write these "Unhurried Time Notes," is that I want everyone else to find out these things, too. I believe we find that protection and that safe place when we run to the Lord and to His Word every morning. He is not our last resort. He is our first priority. If we will do that with sincere, seeking hearts, God will be whatever we need for that day and for that time in our life. Please, don't say that you don't have time to spend with God every day. Believe me, you will benefit from it so much.

God is the One who is our foundation, our solid Rock, to build our lives upon. He protects us. Just think of all of the times you have escaped harm. It was the Lord being gracious to you. We ought to give Him thanks. He shields us from Satan and his demons as we trust Him, and He is the place of safety. Let's go to Him often. Of course, Jesus is our Savior, and He saves us from sin and from everything that can harm us for eternity. We owe everything to the Lord, who sees us through this fallen world all the way to heaven.
