Light for Everyone

We all need light. Our eyes cannot see anything, if there is absolutely no light. That is why God gave us the sun, the moon, and the stars. That is why inventors have invented all types of lights down through the ages. Our lives are greatly enhanced by the sources of life that we have at our disposal. The same can be said for spiritual light. If we do not have light from God, we can't see anything spiritually, but God is good to give all of us this spiritual light.

John the Baptist was sent into the world to be a witness of that light by pointing people to Jesus. John was not that light but He bore witness of the Light. (John 1:9) Jesus is the True Light which gives light to every person coming into the world. Let that sink in for a minute. Jesus makes sure that everyone who is born into this world has enough spiritual light to see God and to put their trust in Him. No one has ever been left out.

I know the are are many people all around the world who have never heard the name of Jesus or seen a Bible, much less read a Bible. They follow various religions, and they need to hear about Jesus and the Gospel so they can be saved from their sins and have eternal life. That is why we must be sensitive to God's call to go into all the world and preach the Good News of Jesus. That is why we must do our part to support missionaries to go into all the world.

This verse tells us that wherever we might go on this earth, we will not find a person who has not received spiritual light from Jesus. God has been working on them even before we get to them. They might reject God's light and go their way, which is what many of them do. However, if they receive the light and put their trust in God, He will make sure that they hear about Jesus in some way, so they can trust Him and be saved. Therefore, there is no excuse for anyone who doesn't trust in the Lord.
