Loaded and Carried

I can't remember the last time that I came across a verse in the Bible that could be taken two different ways, and both ways are very meaningful. It has to do with the meaning of one of the main words in the verse. Just like in English where the same word can mean two or more things, this verse has a word that can mean to load or to carry. Either way we take this verse, it shows us our blessings from God.

David was inspired to write down this verse for us using his own vocabulary, but guided by the Spirit. (Psalm 68:19) The New King James Version says, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation. The New American Standard Bible says, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, the God who is our salvation." Let's take it both ways.

There is no doubt that God is worthy of our praise and we should bless His name every day, because He loads us with benefits every day. There is no way to count our blessings since we have so many each day. I am thankful that I am never alone because He is with me every minute. I bless the Lord for hearing my every prayer. I praise Him for giving me peace that passes understanding as I pray. However, the greatest benefit He has given me is my salvation. Bless the Lord!

God is also there for us every day to carry us. When the burdens of life get heavy, God steps in to walk beside us and to even totally carry us when we can't go it on our own. That is a huge blessing, but even greater than that is that God is our salvation. He doesn't just give us salvation, He is our salvation. He comes to live in us and to protect us from anything Satan and his demons can throw at us. What a blessing!
