God Leads His Flock
Life can be very stressful. We can occupy our minds with all kinds of situations. Our time can be taken up in trying to solve all of our problems. I am afraid that we often fail, even though we have tried our best to do the right things. This is because at the root of who we are as humans, we are incapable to taking care of ourselves. Yes, you heard me right. God made us, and He designed us to need a shepherd.
In one of Asaph's songs he reminded us of this fact. I believe the Lord wanted us to realize this, so He had it written in His Word. (Psalm 77:20) Asaph assured us all that God led His people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. Sounds simple enough until we dissect it and look at all of the parts. Let's do that now.
God wants to be our Leader. He wants us, as His people, to follow His leadership like a flock of sheep. Sheep need a shepherd, and we need the Shepherd. We don't need to spend so much time trying to solve our own problems. We need to spend our time looking for the Shepherd and asking Him what to do. He knows us individually, and we know His voice, so He shows us the way as we follow Him. The key is to stay close to the Shepherd.
Also, God uses people to lead His people like He used Moses and Aaron. We need leaders and we need spiritual leaders. We need both of those groups to be led by God, and then, we follow their leadership. It gives us a personal connection to another human being who can help us through life. God knows that we need that kind of leadership, too. Therefore, we ask God to lead us, and we ask our human leaders to lead us. Then, we get where we need to be without all of the stress. That is what God wants.
