Speaking With God

God has always spoken to the people He has made in His image. He began with Adam and Eve, as He came to walk with them in the cool of the day, and even after they sinned, He spoke with them. That shows God's desire to have a relationship with each and every one of us. After all, if we can't speak with Him, we have no possibility of having any kind of relationship. When the people of Israel constructed the Tabernacle, God came to live among them. He would speak to Moses when he went into the Tabernacle to speak with the Lord. (Numbers 7:89) When Moses spoke to God, God's voice would respond to him from the cover of the Ark of the Covenant from between the two cherubim where God was abiding. Now God speaks to us in different ways, but rest assured He is still speaking to all of us.

When was the last time you spoke "with God." Notice, I said with God not to God. Our prayers to God are to be two-way conversations, not just a time when we talk to God. We are to pour out our hearts to Him and listen for His response. We must listen in faith, knowing He hears us, and He will speak back. He will respond to our feelings, our thoughts, and our fears that we cast upon Him. We can simply have a good conversation, not even asking Him for anything. We can praise Him and thank Him for what He has done for us. He will speak to us about how we are doing, as well. Of course, we can ask God for things for us and others, and He will answer us back. He will not always agree to our request, because He loves us, and He knows what is best every time. However, He will respond by telling us yes, no, or wait. The more we talk with God, the better we will be able to discern His voice, and the more He will speak with us. Let's all let God know that we love Him, and we want a close relationship with Him by talking with Him all of the time. That will vastly improve our lives.
