Being a Slave

Our culture today stands against slavery of all kinds. This is because of our history in the USA. It is God's will that institutional slavery is gone. That is forced slavery. However, the Lord Jesus made it clear that being a voluntary slave is very good for us. (Matthew 20:27-28) When the disciples argued about who would be first among them, Jesus said the first would be your slave. That is living like Jesus, our Lord, because He came to serve all people,  not to be served like earthly rulers. If Jesus voluntarily made Himself a slave for us and gave His life a ransom for many, we should have a positive view of being a slave.

God made each of us to have a personal relationship with Him through knowing Jesus. Once we know Christ, we know He is a humble servant who has submitted to the Father. Then, He does His Father's will,  which is to love all people. Therefore,  once we know Christ, we will desire to serve others, out of love. We will do whatever it takes to see them come to salvation by grace through faith in Jesus. Our priority will be God's priority, which is loving all people completely.  So being a slave of people is being a good Christian.
