Do Not Hold Back A Word
Most of the time we try to be tactful in what we say to others. We don't want to make them mad, and we don't want to be harsh in what we say. Therefore, we have the tendency to not say things that need to be said. This is not a good thing, even if we are doing it in love. The loving thing to do is to tell the whole truth and to say it in a clear way. If we love the other person that is what will really help them. It will not help them, if we fail to give them the whole truth. This is what God told Jeremiah. (Jeremiah 26:2) He commanded Jeremiah to stand in the courtyard of the Lord's temple and speak all the words He had commanded him to say to all of the cities of Judah, so that those coming to worship there from those cities would hear this message. He commanded him not to hold back a word. I believe we all need to hear this admonition and do what God told Jeremiah to do, if we really love others.
Jesus never made it easy on those to whom He spoke. If they had sinned, He told them clearly what they had done wrong, and He commanded them not to do it any more. This is because Jesus is the Truth. He could not say anything less than the truth or anything more than the truth. As Christians, we are to be like Jesus in every way. This means we are to speak the whole truth to others. We are not to hold back a word of what He tells us to say to them. When we share the Bible with others, we are not to leave out the offensive parts. Again, let me say, this is the loving thing to do. If we fail to correct others, we are harming them by holding back. We are not helping them. The Bible is clear that we are to encourage and admonition each other, as believers, so we all become like Jesus. Then, we will all have the best life possible.
