God Only

We have many hindrances to trusting God completely. We have pride that leads us to trust in our own intelligence and strength, at least partially. We have a lack of knowledge of God and His ways. We can't see God or hear Him audibly most of the time. All of these things and other factors cause us to trust in other things besides God or in addition to God. Either way, we are missing God's will. David knew this truth. (Psalm 62:1-2) I am sure he had failed to trust God only many times, before he realized his mistake. He decided he would wait in silence for God only who was his salvation. He would make God only his rock and his salvation, as well as, his stronghold. That is when he found true stability in the Lord. I pray we all will make these same commitments to God.

We can't have a divided mind and truly trust the Lord. (James 1:6-8) He only is the Lord. He is the only One in control. When we go to Him, we must go to God only for our deliverance and for our wisdom. We can't be trusting in money and God. We can't be depending on the advice of friends and God's Word. We can't be running to someone else or self-help books, instead of running to God first and only. Yes, people can help us, and God uses people. Books can be of assistance. Even godly counselors are helpful. However, our trust must be in God only, and if He provides for us in other ways, then we receive His help in that way. He is the Rock that will not be shaken, and we will not be shaken as we trust in God only.
