The Lord, He is God !
God has worked miracles in history that show us all that He is God. He does not leave us without giving a strong evidence of who He is and His power. If any of us fail to trust Him as our Lord and Savior, we are without excuse. That is exactly what happened when the prophet Elijah summoned the prophets of Baal to Mt Carmel. He told them to build and altar and place the ox on the altar. He would do the same thing. It was a test. The God who answered by fire would be proved to be the Lord of all. The prophets of Baal failed, because Baal is not God. However, when Elijah called to God, the fire fell. (I Kings 18:38-39) The fire burned up the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, the dust, and even the water that Elijah had ordered to soak his sacrifice completely. When all the people saw it, they fell on their faces to the ground and said, "The Lord, He is God; the Lord, He is God." There was no doubt that was true, and there is no doubt today either.
Today, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That was the greatest miracle ever. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, to pay the payment of His blood, so we might have life eternal. However, if Jesus had only died, there would have been a question about His sacrifice and His identity. Therefore, God reached down and raised His Son, Jesus, the Second Person of the Trinity, from the dead. That proved Jesus was God. It proved that His sacrifice was accepted by God. It proved to all of us that Jesus was more than a prophet or a good teacher. It proved He was and is Lord of all. He was shown to be God who came into this world in love to save us from our sins. However, the only way for that to happen is for us to fall on our faces before Him and proclaim for all people to hear, "The Lord, He is God; the Lord, He is God." I pray this Sunday, this Resurrection Day, that if any of us have not seen this miracle of God in this way, we will, and we will trust Jesus as Lord and Savior forever.
