Polluting the Land
When I was growing up, there was a lot of talk about pollution in America. We were concerned with air pollution by factories and automobiles. Much of that has been cleaned up. There was a concern over water pollution, too. Rivers were sudsy, at times, from the chemicals dumped into them, but now the water is much more pure. It has been great to see the progress made in these and other areas of pollution. However, the Lord is much more concerned about the spiritual pollution of America. What causes that pollution? The shedding of innocent blood pollutes the land. (Numbers 35:33) In fact, it so pollutes the land that there is no expiation or offering we can make to cleanse the land except one. God requires that the murdered be put to death to cleanse the land of innocent blood being taken. It seems to me that we are in terrible danger in America, because of our lack of respect for the sanctity of human life, and we must fix that.
Isn't it horrible to listen to the local news and hear about the murders that take place almost every day in some part of our city, state, and country? It makes me not want to watch the news. However, it can't be ignored, it needs to be changed. We need to teach the sanctity of human life, and we need to enforce the death penalty on those who take it. like God's Word says. The problem is that there are states that are abolishing the death penalty now, instead. The main culprit of the pollution is far worse than murder on the streets. It is abortion. Each year for the last 48 years there have been over 1 million babies aborted each year in America. Not only is it legal, it is encouraged. This has economic and cultural consequences besides the fact that it incurs God's wrath against our country. Again, we, as Christians, need to do all we can to pray and to inform others of the spiritual consequences of these actions, or else, I believe God will hold us accountable for them to some extent. We can't be silent. Of course, the main thing is that people need Jesus, so we need to begin with sharing the Gospel and the truths of God's Word.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 36 and Deuteronomy 1-2.
