Keep Focused on the Goal
What is your goal for your life? I am not sure most people have a definite goal. However, it seems that if they do, it is mainly just to be happy, to do what brings them the most pleasure. That is why we hear people speak about having a "bucket list" of things they want to do before they die. I believe that is a sad way to live. If we are not striving for something worthwhile, life is practically meaningless. Then, the question becomes, "What is the most worthwhile goal for our life?" Paul gave us the answer straight from the Lord. (Philippians 3:15,16) I am convinced if we will set this goal for our life, we will find the greatest satisfaction we could ever achieve.
We should have a goal for our life, and we should keep focused on that goal each day of our life. That goal should be total commitment to the Lord. Anything less than total commitment to our Master, Jesus, is not worthy of Him or of us. Jesus came to live, to die for us, and to rise again for our salvation and the gift of life, eternal life. He gave His total commitment to us out of love. We must do the same for Him. When we do that He will smile upon us, because we will give ourselves to Him in repentance and faith, so that we belong to Him. Then, we will determine to follow Him to become like Him. The way we are most like Jesus is when we have total commitment to Him and the purposes of God. Once we get on that right track, we need to stay there and keep focused on the goal until we see Him. Then, we will hear, Well Done." That will make our earthly life complete, and we will be ready to live with Him forever in heaven.
