In The Potter's Hand
We have all sung the song, "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." It is a simple song, but it is so true. When we trust Jesus, and we become one of His children, we are in His hand in a special way. He is the Great Potter, and we are the clay in His hand. Jeremiah received this word from the Lord, after God directed him to go to the potter's house and watch him work the clay. (Jeremiah 18:5,6) This is a sobering picture for all of us and especially for believers. Let's consider the word of the Lord.
God is all-powerful and all-wise. He can create magnificent mountains, and He can destroy strong cities. All of creation is in His hand. As believers, He has us in His hand, so He can mold us to be like Jesus. We are able to be molded, as long as we do not become obstinate and refuse His efforts. When we rebel, a flaw comes into our life, and God has to smash us down to start over in the process of making us like Jesus. That is very painful and difficult, but necessary, since God allows us to make our own choices. When our choices collide with His will, He has to get our attention, so we will cooperate with Him. The Great Potter does that when He crushes us to begin again. Please, stay pliable in His hand. Do not harden your heart. Make it your heart's desire to become like Jesus, and then, the process will go well. Remember, the more we are like Jesus, the better our life will be.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 20-23.
