More Than Enough
Moses had to plead with God to go with the people to the Promised Land, after the people made the golden calf to worship as their god. God wanted to destroy all of them and start over with Moses. However, because of Moses' prayer, God decided to go with them. He had told Moses all of His commands for the people, when Moses went back up the mountain for the second set of stone tablets engraved by God with the 10 Commandments. Then, Moses faithfully instructed the people in all of them. One of the commands was to finish building the Tabernacle in the way He had shown Moses. Therefore, Moses got the skilled workers together and called for the people to bring all of the materials. The people were so ready to do God's will that they brought all of the needed materials in a free-will offering. They brought even more than enough, so that he had to stop them from giving. (Exodus 36:6,7) I can't say that I have ever seen that happen in my life. but I pray that I will someday.
When we get our hearts right before the Lord, we are ready to do whatever it takes to do His will. We will go anywhere, say anything, or give anything we can to make sure we are obedient to the Lord. We do this out of love and devotion to Him, not out of duty, just like the Israelites did in this passage. Like Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, we are ready to even go the "second mile." We will go above and beyond in our service, our witness, and our giving. Wouldn't it be fantastic to go to church this Sunday and hear the pastor say, "We do not need any more workers to volunteer in the nursery and other ministries of the church, so stop volunteering?" What would you think if the pastor said that we do not need to witness anymore, because everyone in the world has heard the gospel more than once? I believe many people would faint in disbelief if the pastor were to tell them to stop giving to a special need, because we have more than enough. However, I sure pray that we could hear those things. It would be irrefutable evidence of a great revival among God's people. That is what I am praying for. I hope you will join me in that prayer.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 37-39.
