Give Me This Mountain
When Caleb finally made it to the Promised Land after 40 years of remaining faithful to God through the wilderness wandering, he was ready to take the mountain that Moses promised him. God had blessed him to be as strong as he was 40 years before, and his faith was ready to take on the giants of the land, the Anakim, with God's help. (Joshua 14:12) The spirit and faith of Caleb should be an inspiration to us all.
Caleb was a common man who trusted God. His faith stood the test of time, so God sustained him to reach the prize he desired in life. Caleb had spied out the land around Hebron when the 12 spies entered the land, and now was the time to take over the mountain and all of the giants. Caleb was successful, because God was with him. The same can be true for any of us.
What is the mountain you need to take? Who are the giants in your life who oppose you? What stands between you and the prize of your life? Draw near to God in faith and depend on His favor to carry you to the finish. Be willing to take the risk, because you know God is on your side. One day, you will be able to rejoice in the conquest and give all of the credit to God.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 15-17.
