Resting in Hope
Many people are stressed all the time. They wonder where to go and what to do. They are afraid of being the victims of violence or other crimes. Their hearts are tense, instead of being at peace. God wants all of us to have glad hearts, and He desires for our flesh to rest in hope.(Psalm 16:8,9) Let's see how that can happen every day.
We must always set the Lord before us. We must follow the Lord and take our directions from Him only. Then, the stress of where to go and what to do is gone. We depend on Him, and He cares more for us than we care for ourselves, so He always leads us in the right way for us.
We must put Him at our right hand. The Lord must be our protector. The right hand was the place of strength. If God is at our right hand, then, we will not use our strength, but rely on His strength. This takes the fear away and the pressure to use our own power to protect ourselves Yes, He wants us to be wise, but one of the smartest things we can ever do is to allow God's power to protect us while we are following His directions.
When we are depending on God like that, our hearts are glad, and we rejoice. Our flesh rests in Him, so we have hope knowing that He will lead us in the right way. Therefore, our flesh rests in hope. Our flesh does not fret or fear. Our flesh does not stress, but there is blessed rest, and there is the hope that only God can give.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 17-19.
