Who Am I, O Lord God?
We need to stop and sit before the Lord for times of reflection. I am not talking about our regular unhurried times with the Lord, but special times. We need to do what David did when God had blessed him to establish his descendants to rule over His people. He stopped to think about how far God had brought him and his family. He did not know why God had blessed him so much, but he was very thankful.(II Samuel 7:18) The same thing is true for each of us who know the Lord, so we need those times to reflect and to give thanks.
Think about it, and ask the Lord to show you these things. Who am I, O Lord God, that you would bless me? What is my family that you have blessed us so much? O Lord, why have You seen fit to bring us so far to where we are today and to keep blessing us? It is amazing and humbling to stop and think about how much God has done for you and your family. If we miss these times, we will not appreciate God, and we will not be as thankful as we should be, even if we have had hard times. Remember, without the Lord we would have nothing, but with the Lord we have more than enough of all we need and heaven, too. Praise His holy name!
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Samuel 10-12.
