Head or Tail
God can make a country a head or a tail. He can set a nation above or beneath other nations.(Deuteronomy 28:13) He is the Sovereign Ruler of all nations. We need to hear what God told Israel and apply the principle to our own country.
Deuteronomy 27 and 28 contain the blessings and the curses God promised Israel if they kept His law or failed to keep it. The two lists are sobering to say the least. They should be enough to put the fear of the Lord into anyone who takes them seriously. I know that America is not the same as Israel. We are not a theocracy. We are not God's chosen people. However, the rest of Scripture shows how God holds all nations accountable for their actions, not just Israel. Also, God's character does not change, and He always upholds truth and righteousness by blessing those who heed them and observe them.
We need to pray for our country, as we see our country sinking. We used to be a head, and we are quickly becoming a tail. We used to be above other nations, but now, we are below many of them in many ways. All of this comes from the fact that we have departed from practicing the truths of God's Word in our laws and our everyday lives. We must repent and return to God's ways, or we will fall farther and farther.
