A Growing Church (Part 3)

God intends for a growing church to do more than simply add new members. It is God's will for each believer to multiply and for each church to multiply.(Acts 9:31) Unfortunately, this is not the case for very many believers or churches today. That is why we are not seeing the growth of the church to keep pace with the population or to surpass the growth of the population except in a few places on earth. It is God's desire for "all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." That can't happen without multiplication of believers and churches.

It is simple. People multiply. We have babies, who grow up to have babies, who have more babies. This cycle goes on and on for many families, so that the earth has been filled with people. Isn't that what God commanded Adam and Eve to do, to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth? Our Wise God has commanded Christians to do the same thing by having spiritual children, who have spiritual children, who have more spiritual children.(Matthew 28:19,20) The difference is that a new believer can start having spiritual children immediately upon salvation. Because of that, Christianity could fill the earth with the truth and see believers from every people group in a very short time, if we would multiply believers and churches. That is how the early church did it, and we need to get back to it.

Today, we have settled for building bigger church buildings, so we can add new people, who never make disciples  and multiply. Therefore many churches are dying while a few large churches are simply adding people, and they are not starting new churches either. That strategy will not reach America or the world for Christ. Any Christian can multiply, They just have to do it by witnessing to another person and "teaching them to observe all things" Christ commanded us. Christ commanded us to make disciples. Then, we are to move on to another person and do the same thing, while our spiritual child does the same thing. Please, pray for Christians to catch this vision from the Word of God and start multiplying themselves for His glory.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 10-12.
