The Principal Thing
Solomon says that wisdom in the principal thing.(Proverbs 4:7) Why would he say that, instead of saying salvation is the principal thing? I think the Lord had a good reason to inspire Solomon to tell us this truth, and we all need to see it for our lives to be in His will.
Wisdom is seeing things as God sees things. It is having His perspective. If we have God's view of sin and our hopelessness without Him, we will probably choose to trust Christ and receive salvation. If we see things from a human view, justify our sin, and think we can earn our salvation by good works, we will miss what God has for us. The same goes for everything in life. We need wisdom to see anything and everything in the right way. Our thoughts are not God's thoughts. We must get wisdom to see truth. Then, we get understanding, because we understand as He does.
Let's pray for God to give us wisdom. He will give us plenty when we ask, and then, when we truly understand the meaning of life, we will run to Christ, who is Lord of all, and we will trust Him as our Lord and Savior. Then, the Holy Spirit will lead us into the deep things of God. What a blessing!
Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 6-8.
